Here we have a superb unheated untreated natural earth mined vivid red ruby and diamond cross ring in solid 18K yellow gold.
The design here is eye catching and is a late 20th century interpretation of earlier snake ring designs. Of course the symbolism is beautiful - both me and you with two matching vivid red unheated rubies but also wholeness.
Of note here are the two perfectly matched rubies- these gorgeous stones measure 6.0mm by 4.2mm approximately, they are eye clean which is the highest clarity grade a qualified appraiser can assign to a ruby and the color is a just slightly pink vivid red. Wow do they sparkle!
To accent the fine quality unheated red rubies there are 10 princess cut VS clarity F/G color fine white diamonds set into each shoulder of the solid gold ring.
The total diamond weigh is 0.30 carats as estimated in the settings.
The total ruby weight here is 0.95 carats.
In total this makes the ruby and diamond weight 1.25 carats.
Inside the shank an 18 mark denotes metal fineness of solid 18 karat yellow gold this confirmed by testing.
This very special ruby engagement or anniversary ring is a size 7 3/4 US and is sizable within a range.
It weighs 3.86 grams.
The face of the ring is a lovely size for an heirloom luxury ring to be worn every day measuring 3/8" long down the finger and with a low rise of 1/4" approximately (10mm, 6mm).
Rubies this quality let alone a matching pair this size are rare indeed to obtain - these have no modern treatments you typically see but are just as mother nature made them- they have been mined, faceted and polished only. There are no treatments to these fine natural rubies.
It is in beautiful condition with high polish, all stones secure and ready to gift or to wear!
An Appraisal Report is included with your purchase of this quality ring.
We will ship in a presentation box for safe keeping.
Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.
The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
